Serhii Mykolaiovych has been living in the Znob-Novhorod community in Sumy region for over 36 years. He lives in his own house with his wife and daughter. He used to work as a tractor driver, but now there is no work for him. The Russians began targeting the village where they live after the Ukrainian military drove the invaders out of the area. On May 5, 2022, a shell hit near Mr. Serhii's house. He was at home at the time and the explosion injured his shoulder. All family members were scared. Eight windows were smashed in the house and the barn was completely destroyed. The residents covered the windows with film because they had no money to replace them.
