Zoya Ivanovna works as a social worker, which means she helps the elderly and infirm in her village of Znob-Trubchevske in Sumy Oblast. So, no matter how scared she was of the Russian shelling, she never thought of leaving her wards. Together with her husband, children and young granddaughter, they live in their own home.
In September 2023, their home was damaged by shelling. No one was home at that moment. When the family returned, they were horrified to see not a single window or door left standing. They repaired what they had the resources and strength to do on their own, including covering the windows with plastic.
However, the family needs help with better repairs.
