History 📖

The Velykopysarivska community, Sumy region is located on the border with russia, so it is subject to enemy shelling on a daily basis. According to 2024 data, the community's population is 8218 people, including 31 orphans, 941 people with disabilities and 2660 IDPs.

On the evening of 11 and 12 January, another brutal missile attack took place.

Six S-300 missiles were launched at the village of Yamne, home to about 1,113 people. A local school, kindergarten, outpatient clinic, cultural centre, administrative building and private households were hit.

Fortunately, there were no casualties, but one local woman was injured. Windows and doors were damaged, and the school's heating system was completely destroyed.

Educational institutions are now forced to switch completely to the online format, and teachers are trying to work from home.

The previously operating outpatient clinic operates only through phone calls.

The House of Culture, which had hosted children's clubs, sports and recreational activities, meetings with a psychologist and volunteer meetings before the missile strike, is now closed.

The community tries to recover the damage to private households on its own, but has no funds for restoring all buildings
